Pastor, Mark Reon

Jackson Memorial Baptist Church welcomes Rev. Mark Reon and his family. Mark began his tenure with us January 4, 2009. Prior to serving at JMBC, Mark's ministry experiences include serving as pastor, church planter and youth minister.  Mark mixes humor with biblical knowledge as he presents the relevant message of God's Word to our congregation.

Minister of Education and Administration

H.B. Jackie Allen, Jr. joined the staff in 1995. A graduate of Mars Hill College in North Carolina and Southern Seminary in Louisville, KY. Jackie is a "hands on" administrator and a "behind the scenes" educator. He works hard and possesses a caring heart for people and their needs. He is driven by a sense of God's purpose.


Minister to Students 

Pastor Jason Whitehurst serves as the Minister to Students at JMBC.  Pastor Jason accepted the Lord’s call to salvation at the age of 15, and shortly thereafter felt the calling on his life to serve the Lord in full-time ministry.  It was from that point on that he began to get involved and serve in various ministries in the local church.  

Pastor Jason began pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies at Liberty University in 2000.   He was  a member of Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society, as well as a member of the National Dean’s List.  While in college, Pastor Jason served as the Inner City Pastor for Tree of Life PH Church in Lynchburg, VA and served as a Prayer Leader at Liberty University.  Pastor Jason completed the Bachelor’s degree in 2005, and has since earned a Master of Arts in Religion (M.A.R.), a Master of Divinity(M.Div.), and is currently finishing up his work on a Doctor of Ministry (DMin.) degree from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary.  Pastor Jason has been in Student Ministry for six years, serving at churches in Burlington, NC, Sanford, NC, and Morehead City, NC.

Church Secretary

Mary PenningtonMary Pennington joined the JMBC staff as Church Secretary on July 25, 2011.  She has 14 years of experience serving in local church ministries.  She finds her job rewarding because it gives her the opportunity to do something she enjoys - helping others.

Preschool Ministry Coordinator

Mary Terwilliger is serving as Interim Preschool Ministry Coordinator for JMBC. She has been an active member at Jackson Memorial Baptist Church for 10 years and her journey has brought her to the preschool wing. For the last nine years she served as a leader and/or director of the AWANA Cubbie Club for 3 and 4-year-old children. During that time she also served within the Preschool Ministry as well as a teacher’s assistant in our weekday Preschool Development Center. She is currently continuing her education in Early Childhood Development. Side by side with her husband, Rusty, along with their son Jacob, she considers it a blessing to hear and see God’s Word through the eyes your child. 

Children's Ministry Coordinator

Kelly Cahoon currently serves as the Interim Children's Ministry Coordinator for JMBC.  Kelly graduated from Old Dominion University with a major in Early Childhood Education and has worked towards her Masters in Education Leadership from Regent University.  She served as a Children's Ministry Coordinator at another area church and has also taught in area private Christian schools.  She has been happily married for almost 10 years.  She and her husband, Billy, have 3 beautiful children who bring them much joy.  Her position at JMBC gives her an opportunity to express her love for Christ and for children.

Custodian

James Pitchard joined the staff in 1993. The title of custodian does not cover all the jobs Jim does for our church. He has a "can do" attitude and is the first to arrive and often the last to leave.
